Setting up your KamiCare camera is a straightforward process that ensures you get optimal fall-detection capabilities. Follow these simple steps to get your camera up and running in no time.

Step 1: Download the KamiCare Mobile App / Log into the Web App

  1. If you are setting up from a cell phone, go to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download the KamiCare app.
  2. If you are setting up from a computer or tablet, Open a web browser and go to KamiCare.ai.
  3. Log into your Account. If you don’t already have an account, reach out to KamiCare support to get an account set up.

Step 2: Unbox Your KamiCare Camera

Carefully unbox your KamiCare camera and ensure all the components are included. Your package should contain:

  • KamiCare Camera
  • Power Adapter
  • Quick Start Guide
  • Mounting Bracket
  • Screws and Anchors

Step 3: Choose the Installation Location

Decide where you want to place the camera. Consider the following factors:

  • A clear line of sight for monitoring
  • Proximity to a power outlet (if using WiFi, you will plug into a power outlet)
  • Strong Wi-Fi signal
  • Avoiding direct exposure to bright light or obstructions
  • Placement height for optimal coverage
  • A level view of the ground (no tilted views)

It is important that you install your camera near a power outlet or a power over ethernet (PoE) jack if you're using one of our PoE-capable devices.

It can be helpful to plug and pair the camera at this time, and use the app to adjust the viewing angle. This can allow you to ensure you have the best view possible before mounting the camera.

Step 4: Mount the Camera

For R44 models, use the provided bracket to mount your camera securely. Different mounting options include:

  • Wall-Mounted, Camera Facing Up: Easy mounting and unmounting options.
  • Wall-Mounted, Camera Facing Down: Especially useful for monitoring spaces near the camera mounting location. The camera feed may need to be flipped in the app.
  • Ceiling Mounted: Mounting the bracket on the ceiling, then ensuring the camera is angled well to view the room. The camera feed may need to be flipped in the app.

Secure the bracket to the ceiling with the drywall anchors, and then the screws. Attach your KamiCare camera to the bracket when it is most convenient, then plug in the device.

Ensure the camera is positioned at the correct angle for optimal viewing. Remember, if you cannot see an area of the room through the camera during set-up, then the camera will not be able to detect falls in that area.

Installation Process for Different Surfaces:

  • Drywall or Wood: Use the provided screws and anchors to secure the bracket.
  • Concrete or Brick: Pre-drill holes and use appropriate wall anchors before attaching the bracket.
  • Ceiling Mounting: Ensure the bracket is firmly fixed to prevent the camera from shifting.

Step 5: Power Up the Camera

  1. Plug the camera into the power outlet using the provided adapter.
  2. Wait for the indicator light to turn on, signaling that the device is ready for setup.

Step 6: Connect the Camera to Wi-Fi & Pair to your Account

  1. In the KamiCare app, tap Cameras -> + and select your camera model.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera to your Wi-Fi network. For a detailed guide, please refer to our Step by Step Guide to Pairing your KamiCare Camera.

Make sure you enter the correct Wi-Fi credentials and ensure you’re using a 2.4GHz network if required.

Step 7: Test Your Camera

Open the KamiCare app and view the camera feed to check the placement and quality. Adjust the angle or settings as needed for the best coverage.

Step 8: Set up Fall Detection / Bed Exit

Navigate to the Manage Cameras tab in the app. Edit the settings for the specific KamiCare device. Go to Event Settings, and click through to the Zones setup pages for either Fall Detection or Bed Exit.

Fall Detection Avoidance Zones: Identify furniture, mirrors, TV’s, pictures on the wall, and other fixed objects in the monitored area. Make sure to mark furniture where someone may sit or lay, or anything that may look like or reflect a human (like a mirror or TV).

Bed Exit Zones: Clearly define the bed area, including the mattress and bed frame. Make sure to include the entire bed, otherwise KamiCare may not be able to detect a Bed Exit.
