Understanding Blind Spots

What are blind spots?

A blind spot is an area of the room that isn't in the Field Of View (FoV) of your camera and hence where falls cannot be detected.

There are two types of blind spots:

- The ones directly below your camera.

- The others behind furniture like a bed, sofa, dresser, or around a corner.

Under camera blind spots

If your camera is installed in a corner, the shape of the blind spot under the camera is a quarter-circle of about a 45" radius from the corner.

If your camera is installed on a wall, the blind spot under the camera will be in the shape of a half-circle of about a 45" radius from the wall.

Furniture and corner blind spots

Furniture in the room such as a bed, a dresser, or a sofa can obstruct your camera’s FoV. Entry hallways hidden around a corner, can also be blind spots if they are not included in your camera’s peripheral vision.

Consider placing a second camera in the room to eliminate blind spots and ensure maximum coverage of the room.
